Quote from <a class=”profile-link highlight-admin” href=”https://www.oileralley.com/forum/profile/oilpotter/”>Dennis Lye on March 29, 2025, 7:13 pm
The Maple City Manufacturing Company was founded in Monmouth, Illinois in 1904. It made a variety of oilers and was one of the first American companies to manufacture an oiler marketed as the “automobile oiler”. The company moved headquarters to Peoria, Illinois in 1919 and changed their name to “Maple City Stamping Company. The company stopped advertising in 1922 (so it can be assumed that it was no longer viable after that date). Oilers identified as “Maple City Manufacturing Company” were made between 1907 and 1919 (at least 100 years-old). Oilers identified as “Maple City Stamping Company” were made between 1919 and 1922 (again, at least 100 years-old). A photo of an “automobile oiler” made by Maple City Manufacturing is shown below. Do any of the community members have photos of Maple City oilers that they are willing to share? Oiler Alley has an inventory of close to 20 different Maple City oilers (all over a 100 years-old) available for purchase by interested members.
